GEISAI#19 on Sunday, September 22, 2013 has concluded with great success.
Here's the first report on the event, focusing on the event itself.
For this GEISAI event held in Asakusa, we invited Anselm Reyle, Mika Yoshitake, and Gabriel Ritter as the jurors and had artists aspiring for their professional debuts exhibiting at 270 booths.
We would like to sincerely thank you all who exhibited and visited.
The three jurors, German artist Anselm Reyle, whose show is ongoing at Kaikai Kiki Gallery; Mika Yoshitake, the Assistant Curator of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden; and Gabriel Ritter, the Assistant Curator of the Dallas Museum of Art visited each of the 234 artists' booths.
From high-quality works to humorous works, a wide variety of artworks by extremely unique artists have assembled at the event.
Those who participated with their special booths have also greatly contributed toward boosting the festive atmosphere.
On the 6th floor, the team from Fuglen Tokyo volunteered to serve their coffee. As they ground beans sent from Norway for each cup for individual serving, the coffee's aroma permeated the entire floor, providing relief to the exhausted exhibitros.
You can taste their coffee yourself at Bar Zingaro on the 2nd floor of Nakano Broadway—please stop by!
Holbein Art Materials, Inc., which once again participated as a company booth, has held workshops on badge making and on their new print paper product. The tables were constantly crowded with visitors of all ages.
Again on the 6th floor, at the company booth of Turner Colour Works, Ltd., Dragon 76 skillfully performed a live painting as a teaser for the Live Paint DOJO. A stencil workshop was also held at their booth, drawing many visitors.
The members of the now-familiar artist group, Ryodan, made their appearance in cos-play. The festive booth added further excitement to the floor.
Once again, GEISAI was rich with unique artists and their works
