This week, we will hold an exhibition for Kazuma Shirota, winner of the KAWS award at GEISAI#18, at Hidari Zingaro on the third floor of Nakano Broadway.
Shirota’s booth at GEISAI#18 juxtaposed several large paintings and figurines, making for a grand installation that was unlike anything else at the fair.
The artist had previously worked at a photo studio for seven years and then in the timber industry for two years. He is now a junior at Musashino Art University.
Below are the comments from KAWS on Shirota’s artworks.
“When I saw his works, I was impressed with their energy and thought the materials he used were quite interesting. It’s difficult to put into words but I enjoyed the experience of his work. Beginning with the characters he created, the entire exhibition had a very well expressed perspective. I look forward to his next exhibition.
Be sure to check out the interview with Shirota below before attending the show.
